The smartphone industry is dominated by brands like Apple and Samsung. But there are also some other companies whose phones are eagerly awaited by users. These companies launch fewer phones, but the ones they do launch are always a hot topic of discussion. One such brand is POCO. The company’s X and M series are very popular. The X series offers mid-range phones, while the M series is known for its budget offerings.
Last year, the company launched the X5 Pro in the mid-range segment, which was considered one of the best phones in its price range. Now, in 2024, the company has started the year with the POCO X6 Pro, which has also generated a lot of buzz. We received this phone for review. After using it for about 15 days, we wrote our review, and the results are here for you to see.
Design
The POCO X6 Pro we received was in gray color, with a glass finish on the body. The rear panel features a camera bracket in the signature POCO style. A black strip with four circles houses three cameras and a flash. The POCO logo is also visible near the flash. The black strip also features a message that the phone has a 64MP OIS camera.
The phone has a boxy design with a metal frame. It is undoubtedly a good-looking phone. The best thing we found is that even though the body is glossy, it doesn’t show fingerprints easily. The company also provides a protective case in the box content for added protection.
The POCO X6 Pro has a variety of ports and features, including a USB-C port, a SIM ejector tool, a speaker grille, a power button, volume rockers, an infrared port, and a noise cancellation microphone. The phone also has dual speakers with Dolby integration, which provides a rich and immersive sound experience.
The POCO X6 Pro’s design is sleek and stylish. The glass back panel is available in three colors: gray, black, and blue. The phone is comfortable to hold and has a nice weight to it. H The camera module is raised above the body, which can make it difficult to place the phone flat on a surface. Additionally, the phone’s design is similar to that of previous POCO models, which may be a turn-off for some users.
Display
The POCO X6 Pro’s display is one of its best features. The phone has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels. This results in a pixel density of 446 PPI, which is very good. The display is also very bright, with a maximum brightness of 1800 nits.
The display has a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes animations and scrolling smoother. It also has a 480Hz touch sampling rate, which makes gaming and other touch-sensitive tasks more responsive.
The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which helps to protect it from scratches and cracks. The display is centered punch-hole design, with a cutout for the front-facing camera. The side bezels are also very thin, which makes the phone feel smaller than it actually is. However, the phone is still large enough to be used with two hands.
Overall, the POCO X6 Pro’s display is excellent.
Hardware and Software
The POCO X6 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra processor, which is built on a 4nm fabrication process. The processor has eight cores, with a maximum clock speed of 3.35GHz. It also has a Mali-G615 GPU for graphics.
In terms of memory, the POCO X6 Pro is available with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 512GB of storage.
Camera
After design, display, hardware, and software, it’s time to talk about the camera. Here you can expect a little better results. The phone has a triple rear camera system. The main camera is 64MP. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide-angle lens and a 2MP macro sensor.
Looking at the camera, it can be said that the company has compromised with pixel resolution this time. The POCO X5 Pro, launched last year, had a 108MP primary camera, but this time it’s only 64MP. A good thing to note is that the company has used OIS and EIS, or optical image stabilization and electronic image stabilization, with the main camera.
As for image quality, it’s good, but I wouldn’t call it the best. The phone tries to make the picture a little brighter for social media. Also, there was a slight yellow tint, which we call warm tone. However, we have seen this kind of tone in POCO and IQOO phones before, so we can’t say it’s too bad. Yes, the detailing was quite good and the photo looked good even when zoomed in in daylight conditions. It was also doing a little better than the older phone in the night, but there was still some noise. The phone supports 4K video recording at 30 frames per second.
To sum up the camera quality, it’s fine if you want to use it for daily use for photo and video shooting. If you want a professional-grade camera, this is not it. The phone also has a 16MP front camera with AI technology. The quality of this camera is also decent.
Battery and Charging
The POCO X6 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. The phone can be fully charged in 40-45 minutes. The battery life is good, and the phone can easily last for a day and a half on a single charge. Even if you play games, the phone will still last a full day.
Conclusion
After considering everything, is the POCO X6 Pro worth buying? It depends on your needs. If you are looking for a good phone for gaming under ₹30,000, then the POCO X6 Pro is a good option. The design is good, and the camera will impress you, but it is not the best in its class. The display is also impressive, with good brightness and contrast. The POCO X6 Pro is available in India for ₹26,999. Other options in this price range include the OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G and the Realme 12 Pro.
